Email Providers

Email is a double-edged sword. It is the standard method of communicating for many individuals and most businesses; It is also decidedly insecure. Since it is transmitted in plain text, anyone (anywhere) who intercepts an email can read it at will. The solution is to encrypt your emails. This used to be a difficult process requiring both sender and recipient to use encryption software to handle the heavy lifting. This meant that very few individuals or businesses were willing to go through the difficulty. Thankfully, there are options for private, secure, encrypted email services that (unlike Google and other Big Tech providers) do not harvest your email metadata and contents. The two options we currently recommend are ProtonMail and StartMail. They each take slightly different approaches, but both are good choices. Since, ProtonMail is based a Swiss company, we find their approach the better of the two, but we list both, since either is a great option for easily encrypting your email. Find out about both and where to get them below.
